The Power of Z is a documentary short (16 minutes) that relates the unique origin story of Generation Z. Gen Z (which covers the birth years from 1997 to 2012) has been on a journey with numerous bumps and challenges along the way – including 9/11, Katrina, 2008 Recession, Sandy Hook, Covid, George Floyd and the overturning of Roe V. Wade.
The film explores how these critical events impacted and shaped Gen Z which is also the most diverse and progressive generation ever.
Narrated by Gen Z actress and dancer, Nia Sioux – our film relies on members of Gen Z to tell us firsthand what it was like growing up in early 21st century America. The film then takes a pivot to point out that Gen Z has now come of age…and has the demographic power in terms of raw voting power (if they register and if they vote) to determine our nation’s future – and thereby address the key issues that Gen Z is most concerned about -- climate change, reproductive rights, gun control and student debt.
The Power of Z makes a clarion call that the time has come for Gen Z to make its political voice heard this election season.
